Dark chocolate and pecan biscotti

There's something about the dry, crisp crunch of biscotti that I just can't get enough of. Compared to soft, chewy biscuits (which I also love), they are basically a different species... but they are a species I am absolutely HERE for!!

Yes, they can be a slight faff because they need double the baking - but I just think of that as double the clean-up time, and lord knows, sometimes my kitchen can benefit from that extra 20 minutes!

The trickiest thing with biscotti in my experience is slicing the 'loaves' while they are still hot because they have a tendency to break apart if you're rough with them, and because you slice it when it's straight out of the oven, it's HOT - enough said! Gloves are the very obvious answer to that problem. And a sharp serrated knife goes a long way too.

These rich, dark chocolate and pecan biscotti, smothered in even more chocolate, make a perfect after-dinner treat.
