Fruit and nut crackers

Summer is thankfully on the way, and to me, that means long lunches and lazy dinners. And there is no better way to languish over lunch, or throw together a quick snack for dinner, than a cheese board.
Making your own crackers can seem like a tedious affair, and with so many wonderful crackers on offer at the supermarket, you might wonder if it's worth making your own at all... of course I'm not trying to tell you that you should only ever make your own, but once in a while, if you have the time, it's incredibly satisfying and rewarding. And the best thing is, you have total control about what you put into them! As a fig freak, I like to LOAD my fruit and nut crackers with maximum fig-age, which pairs beautifully with blue cheese and my homemade nectarine chutney... it is absolute heaven!
Matching your cracker ingredients to your cheeses may sound a little over the top. But what the heck, if it floats your boat, give it at go - this recipe is very versatile and you can really use whatever fruit, seeds or nuts take your fancy.
